On Friday, March 6th, Lassiter Gymnastics hosted their first home meet at
World of Gymnastics in Woodstock. The Six local teams included Woodstock,
Cherokee, Walton, Allatoona and River Ridge High School.

LHS started on vault. Senior Joely Goss returned as one of our vault
specialists to kick off the competition. Seniors Stephanie Brown and
Kathleen Iacobelli landed solid vaults. Freshman Ella Anderson delivered
our highest vault score of the night with an 8.9.

Our second rotation was to the uneven parallel bars. Sophomore Rebecca
DeMouey delivered a very strong routine. Ella’s routine included two giants.
Stephanie and Kathleen completed the rotation with strong scores going into
the third rotation. Kathleen had our highest score with an 8.5.

LHS moved on to balance beam at this meet. Sophomore Maymay Salcedo landed
one of her dynamic beam routines complete a back tuck and a back
handspring-back handspring series. Stephanie’s routine ended with a front
layout dismount. Ella gave the team the other strong score they needed for
the rotation with our highest beam score of 8.9.

The Lassiter team lit up the floor! Freshman Alayna West led the team off
with a great first routine. This was her first meet of the season and she
did not disappoint. Ella danced and tumbled her way to a score of 8.9.
Stephanie ensured that the team ended the meet with a strong score.
Kathleen landed three tumbling passes which included a full-and-a-half to
score the highest score of the entire meet with a 9.65.

Lassiter Gymnastics came in second place to Walton High School – finishing
just .15 behind them in the final score!

LHS competes again on March 11th at Westminster High School.

Lassiter Gymnastics started off the year strong! The first meet of the season was Friday, Feb. 28th, hosted by Milton High School. Lambert, West Forsyth, Roswell and Alpharetta High School filled out the 6 team roster.

Freshmen Ella Andersen and Sidney Berrios made their high school debut. They both competed on all four events and landed strong scores for the team!

Seniors Neena Madhure and Stephanie Brown also turned in strong performances. Stephanie competed beam and floor. Neena turned in a great front handspring vault.

Rebecca DeMouey, sophomore, put up solid scores on bars and beam. Maymay Salcedo, also a sophomore, delivered a floor routine that showcased her dance and tumbling skills. The judge rewarded her with a 9.1 – a great score to lead the team.

Kira Montefusco and Sarah Bearden, both seniors, are the new team managers. Their years of experience completing gymnastics allows them to contribute their advice as well as their assistance to the team.

LHS looks forward to their first home meet on March 6 at World of Gymnastics in Woodstock.

The Lassiter Gymnastics team opens the season at the Milton High School gymnastics meet. The competition begins at 6:00 PM. Teams competing include Milton, Lassiter, Lambert, West Forsyth, Roswell, and Alpharetta. The meet will be held at Infinity Gymnastics Center, 7545 Industrial Court, Alpharetta, GA 30004.
