LHS returned to Westminster for their fourth and final meet of the season. The team was able to better their scores from the week before but they missed Kira Montefusco and her ability to deliver great routines.

LHS Gymnastics put up Sarah Bearden, Bella Berrios, Kathleen Iacobelli and Autumn Mille on floor. Kathleen’s floor routine scored a 9.0 to continue her run of scores over 9 on floor.

The team did well on beam and was able to put up 5 dynamic routines. Rebecca DeMouey, Autumn, Sarah, Bella and Kathleen put up strong scores to position the team well.

LHS favors vault with two specialists – Neena Madhure and Joely Goss. They were joined by Rebecca, Bella and Kathleen to produce a great rotation. Kathleen’s had a vault score above 8.5 which qualified her to compete at the State Preliminary Meet on vault in addition to floor.

Bars was challenging with only 3 gymnastics competing. Kathleen, Bella and Rebecca did great routines and contributed solid scores.

The team wishes Kathleen Iacobelli good luck as she represents the team on April 27th at the State Preliminary Meet in Buford!

Lassiter Gymnastics hosted their only home meet of the season on Friday, March 22. Eight teams put on a great competition for a crowd of more than 150 spectators. LHS came in fourth with some really strong routines. Kathleen Iacobelli scored a 9.0 on Floor. Senior Bella Berrios competed in all four events before her family and friends.
After the competition wrapped up, the team had a chance to celebrate senior Bella Berrios! The team presented her with maroon and gold roses and invited her former World of Gymnastics teammates to join them. The team also presented roses to every other senior at the meet.
Bella got a taste of gymnastics at a friend’s birthday party, and started gymnastics her 5th grade year, at North Metro. That was it! She could not get enough of all the flipping. She was recruited as a Gymstar where she flourished. She moved up to Excel Silver and was the Beam Champion at the State Meet.
She worked to overcome double casts on her wrists…. twice, but worked hard each time to get her skills back. Her freshman year, she moved to World of Gymnastics, where they have become her family. They have supported her, challenged her and most of all have loved her.
Bella has been a real team leader for Lassiter and this year she is their Captain. One team mom shared: I love how warm and welcoming Bella is! She lights up a room and brings everyone into the light. I am also so impressed with her artistic ability. Watching her paint the backdrop for the homecoming float was so impressive! The rest of the team just followed her lead and painted in her sketches. It was amazing to watch.
